Target Population

The Healthy Thinking Initiative is an ideal wellness program for all employees, especially for those who are at risk for developing a diagnosable depressive disorder. (Click here for more information about who is at risk for depression.) If you have been diagnosed and have completed psychotherapy, or if you are currently being maintained on medication, you may find the healthy thinking skills helpful in preventing depression in the future.

We will work with you if you are interested in reducing or eliminating medications prescribed for depression. This is done in consultation with your treating physician. We never recommend stopping medications without first consulting your medical doctor. (Click here to read a sample letter to be sent to your prescribing professional.)

If you are currently in psychotherapy or just beginning medication, we recommend that you work with your treatment professionals to stabilize your symptoms before entering our program.

The skills of mindfulness, optimism, and resilience are good business skills as well as good mental health skills. Approaching a problem with mindfulness enables you to bring your full consciousness to the situation. Optimism is associated with higher levels of perseverance and success in both sales and leadership positions. Resilience skills are important when you are trying to deal with the inevitable stress of the modern work climate.

The treatment of depression through employee assistance programs or mental health professionals is essential for anyone who is currently diagnosed with a depressive disorder. We support the efforts of these treating professionals. Our program adds value to your organization by addressing skills that will reduce the need for expensive treatment and for the subsequent disruption of the workplace.
